Dunedin hospital programme director Bridget Dickson said the five-storey 15,000sq m facility was on track to open in late 2026.
"We’re excited to be preparing for the move into this incredible new facility.
"It’s been a huge team effort, and we’re proud to be delivering a space that puts patients first," she said.
Health New Zealand Southern group director of operations Craig Ashton said construction was progressing rapidly with interior fitouts well under way.
Ceilings, flooring and wall coverings were being installed with cabinetry and infrastructure for clinics, theatres and radiology next in line. Landscaping and patient drop-off zones were also under way.
Foundation work on the building began in 2022. Seventy-eight piles were driven to an average depth of 19m to anchor the building securely on the old foreshore.

More than 200 workers and numerous Dunedin-based contractors have contributed to its construction.
The larger inpatient building was scheduled to open in early 2031.
