Nearly 700 children, from 90 schools as far away as Twizel, raced in yesterday’s Otago Primary Schools Sport Association Cross Country at Kaikorai Valley College.

Race co-ordinator Blair Ward, of Dunedin, said it was marvellous so many schools travelled for the event, which catered to pupils in  years 5-8.

It was great to see so many parents and supporters cheering the children on as well, he said.

The college grounds made for a good course and rain stayed away during the races.
