A man has received an official warning after being accused of racially abusing an autistic man in central Dunedin earlier this month.
Peter Lim was approached in the Octagon and told to ''go home to China''.
The 21-year-old New Zealand citizen described the man as old, unshaven and verbally aggressive.
The incident prompted his twin brother, Andrew, to write to the Otago Daily Times deploring the attack.
The pair also filed a complaint with police. Yesterday a police spokeswoman confirmed a 58-year-old Dunedin man had been spoken to in relation to the incident.
The man received an official warning for his behaviour.
