Deciding to get a tattoo while inebriated often ends in tears.

But not for Stephanie Seyb. She has absolutely no regrets.

The 25-year-old and a friend had "#KPforEd'' tattooed on their bodies last night in a bid to raise awareness of their friend, singer Kylie Price, who wants to be the warm-up act for Ed Sheeran's concerts at Forsyth Barr Stadium next year.

"A couple of Saturdays ago, we were having a few beers and we decided it would be a really good idea.

"We think a local artist should be opening for Ed.

"Hopefully this will get his attention.''

While the tattoo, her first, was small compared to some, it was still large enough to make her wince.

Miss Price thought the idea was funny until she saw her friends getting the painful procedure.

The Dunedin singer said she had been listening to Ed Sheeran's music since she was a teen and believed it would be an amazing opportunity for somebody local to open for the international superstar.

"He seems like the sort of guy that doesn't forget where he comes from.

"He started from somewhere himself. He's a pretty humble sort of character.

"Maybe if we make enough noise down here, he will wonder why we're making all this effort ...''
