Alcohol stolen from garage

A large quantity of alcohol has been stolen from a residential garage in Mosgiel.

The burglary was one of three in Mosgiel reported to police in recent days.

Senior Sergeant Ben Butterfield said there was no reason to suspect the burglaries were linked, but residents should be taking precautions.

Eight 24-packs of Speight's beer and six bottles of wine were taken from the garage in Cedar Cres on the night of December 4, he said.

''We are interested to hear from anyone who has come into possession of a large amount of alcohol and urging them to give us a call,'' Snr Sgt Butterfield said.

Some tools were also taken from a Gordon Rd property sometime between December 3 and 5.

Both matters were only reported to police on Monday.

A property in Glenbrook Dr also appeared to have been broken into on Sunday night.

''It appears an offender was disturbed,'' he said.

''No-one was seen but the occupants of the house woke up and found their door was open and there was evidence that items in the house have been searched.

''We are urging people to lock their doors.''
