Charge over road rage

A man is to appear in court after an abusive road rage incident in North Dunedin last month.

A female motorist was pulled over and had her car keys pulled from her hand in a road rage incident in Queen St on July 22.

A police spokeswoman said police had charged a man with theft and threatening language.

He would face the charges in the Dunedin District Court, she said.

``It appears that he believes the other driver cut him off/failed to give way to him,'' the spokeswoman said.

A man took the woman's keys before driving off with them.

A witness told the Otago Daily Times at the scene of the incident that the woman's child was crying in the back seat as the man screamed at her and snatched her keys from the car.

``An angry male pulled the door open and screamed at her and abused her. He said he was `going to kill them all','' the witness said.

Soon after abusing the woman, the man got back into his car and drove off at speed, the witness said.

``She was getting out of the car and he pushed past her and got the keys out of the car,'' the witness said.
