It's not often you get to be silly in public. But yesterday, hundreds of people across Otago wore red noses for a serious cause: Cure Kids.It has been 13 years since New Zealand last held a Red Nose Day.

The Paper Plus Group has brought the event back.

Cure Kids conducts research into all illnesses which affect New Zealand children and their families.

The goal for Red Nose Day this year is to raise $1 million to provide hope and support, through funded research, to those children suffering from life-threatening diseases.

The event is supported by Cadbury Jaffas, the Greenstone Energy network of Shell service stations, and Rotary in New Zealand.
