The director general of health Dr Ashley Bloomfield is appearing on the Ministry of Health's Facebook Page at 11.45am in a live session and taking questions from viewers.
The social media session comes after the government moved into a new phase of public preparedness for a second wave of the virus to sweep through the community.
People are now being encouraged to "be ready" and have a stock of masks on hand in household emergency kits should we see a similar style outbreak wreaking havoc in Victoria.
This week Health Minister Chris Hipkins warned if the country was ever to return to alert level two, Kiwis would be encouraged to wear masks in situations where they couldn't physically distance.

There has been no community transmission for 90 some days so "What do these guys know that they are not telling us?", if the border controls work why are they trying to keep us in fear?.

Good lord, because at some point the economic pressure will go on to increase the number of people coming in that need to be quarantined and you can bet that human error if not outright stupidity or maliciousness will mean someone will get in with COVID. This has happened to every other country that has"beaten" it and eased up on restrictions. So, you can take your chances or take precautions.
Something's happened (or happening) that the Government isn't telling us. Why, all of a sudden, have we been told to stock up on and be prepared to wear face masks when in Level 4 this wasn't a requirement?
Maybe I've been reading too many books but this smacks of a nasty Government secret. Haven't the Government constantly been assuring us that they've been managing or isolating incoming Kiwis that have come from Covid-19 rife countries? Have they been letting other nationalities into the country that they're not telling us about?
As much as I admire the Labour Government for dealing with all the disasters that have occurred in the last three years, I can't help but wonder whether this is nothing but scare mongering to gain votes in the upcoming elections.
