Man denies trying to arrange hit on parents

A Tauranga security officer accused of attempting to arrange for someone to murder his parents will defend the allegation at jury trial.

Alan Francis Barlow, 42, who has denied a charge of attempting to procure a special duties officer to murder Kevin James Barlow and Diana Noeleen Barlow, made a brief appearance in the High Court at Tauranga today before Justice Lang.

Justice Lang scheduled a two-day jury trial to begin in the High Court at Rotorua on August 18.

The Crown alleges in October last year Barlow approached an undercover police officer in Huntly and attempted to arrange the murder of his parents, who are understood to be in their 60s.
