Crowded House drummer Peter Jones has died after a battle with brain cancer.
The English-born, Australian-based musician died on Friday after a long battle with the cancer, the Herald Sun reported.
The home page of the Crowded House website paid a simple tribute to the drummer.
"We are in mourning today for the death of Peter Jones.
"We remember him as a warm hearted, funny and talented man, who was a valuable member of Crowded House.
"He played with style and spirit. We salute him and send our love and best thoughts to his family and friends.''
Crowded House, led by New Zealander Neil Finn, was formed in 1985 and has had various members from New Zealand, Australia and the United States over the years.
On Twitter Finn paid tribute to the drummer, saying: "I am very sad to hear tonight that Peter Jones has died ... a great man and a wonderful drummer. RIP Pete.''
Jones, a former school teacher, replaced drummer Paul Hester after Hester left the band in 1994.
Hester committed suicide in 2005, aged 46.
