Green Island has defeated West Taieri 37-17 in the promotion-relegation game at Forsyth Barr Stadium to hold on to its premier status.
Green Island led 13-10 at the break, and scored two tries in the final 10 minutes to blow out the final score in what was a tight match on Thursday night.
West Taieri gave its best and was far from disgraced, scoring three tries in the match.
It won the right to challenge after winning the Premier 2 final last month.
