"This is a debacle."

That is the opinion of Queenstown Lakes District Cr Ross McRobie on the ongoing process the council is having with the NZ Transport Agency to secure funding for sealing Ballantyne Rd, near Wanaka.

It was confirmed at yesterday's Wanaka Community Board meeting that the council's strategic business case had been completed, reviewed, and submitted to NZTA, and had received verbal approval to proceed to a "single-stage detailed business case".

Mr McRobie said the process was "frustrating".

"It'd be very interesting to know how many business cases need to be done for this road and whether or not this final detailed business case is the final business case."

"This is a debacle. Really, seriously, we want to get the road sealed and get on with it."

Last month, the Otago Daily Times reported a project start date would come after the business case process was completed.

Thirteen accidents have occurred on the road in past five years, including a crash that claimed the life of Luggate teenager Jackson Aitchison (17) in October 2016.

Oxymoron ...

The sole purpose of Councillors are to provide a source of complaint ...

Councillors have absolutely NO right to make complaints ...
