Part of Africa came to the North Shore last night and it was the big boy stomping all over its smaller neighbour.

In front of a capacity crowd, which seemed to have attracted every South African from near and far, South Africa ran out an 87-0 winner, after leading 31-0 at the break.

The Springboks were always going to win this game. It was just a case of by how much and how they did it.

Well, they scored 12 tries, all converted, and racked up the most points in a 2011 World Cup match so far - surpassing the 83 the All Blacks' put on Japan last Friday. They looked good in patches, but it was far from the complete performance.

Plenty of ball was spilt and their finishing could have been a lot better.

They really found their mojo in the last quarter of the game, scoring 49 points, as the Namibians tired and the Springboks moved the ball from all over the park.

As for a pointer to harder games to come it was useless, but there is nothing wrong with a good hit-out for the defending champion.

Best for South Africa were halfback Francois Hougaard and flanker Willem Alberts, while Danie Rossouw kept up his good run of form. Second five-eighth Frans Steyn looms as a key for the Springboks with his ability to take the ball to the line and make metres over the gain line.

The Namibians were competitive for the first hour, with halfback Eugene Jantjies lively and flanker Tinus du Plessis making some good runs.

It took South Africa just six minutes to score its first try.

Namibia turned the ball over and the ball was quickly shifted to winger Gio Aplon, who skipped away to score without a hand being laid on him.

It looked ominous for the Namibians but they did not throw in the towel and made some lively breaks in the first 40 minutes. But they could not string enough phases together.

Bryan Habana scored the second try for South Africa halfway through the first half and that was followed by a penalty try and a five-pointer by centre Jaque Fourie to give the South Africans a 31-0 lead at the break.
