Ings Memorial Home Trust Board trustee Kelvyn Fairhall said the rest-home market had changed "markedly" in the past few years, and the church was looking carefully at its options.
Because of low occupancy, Ings Memorial Home closed in December, after nearly 50 years.
No decisions had been made "but some possibilities are being investigated", Mr Fairhall said.
"Naturally we would like to see it being used in some way as part of the expression of the work of our Baptist churches in Dunedin. At this stage we do not have a timeline for any decision."
In the meantime, part of Ings was being leased to McGlynn Homes, while the care provider built an additional facility in Northeast Valley, owner Tim Hannagan said.
