Far away from music studios and producers, a Mosgiel teenager is making the music he wants to hear in his bedroom on a laptop, and is starting to reap the rewards.
Eden Burns, Gasp to his fans, has suddenly found himself in hot demand. The 16-year-old moved with his family from Christchurch to Mosgiel last month, and has focused on his music.
''I don't know many people here so it has been a good time just to focus on the music.''
Mostly self taught, by using the internet to learn how to use the music programmes on his computer, Eden has been making electronic music since he was 12.
''I was playing the drums in a band but we broke up so I decided to start making my own.''
In the past month, things have started to take off for the musician. He has found a manager, got a performance at the Glenroy Auditorium, a feature on the music website the Audience, interviews on student radio and his first EP should be sold on iTunes soon.
This weekend he plays in Wellington and is in talks to perform at other events.
