The Dream Vacation gelding is a recent addition to Jonny Cox and Amber Hoffman's Westwood Beach team, after he was bought by stable client Gary Fyfe following a win at Ascot Park on May 17.
''He had a week or 10 days off, so we're just taking our time with him, but he's a naturally fit horse,'' Cox said.
''He's a lovely trotter and he has a bit of a motor, so hopefully we have a bit of fun with him."
Free Dreams has won three of his 15 starts with another seven placings to his name and is nominated for the c1 and faster trot at Waterlea on Friday.
The 5yr-old will be joined by Shya, Platinum Princess and Lionels Meddle, who will bypass the last claiming heat this week and the final on June 27 after he was claimed last Thursday.
''My mate in Aussie wasn't too worried about heading to the heat and the final, and [the horse] is competitive in his own grade, so he said we might as well have a bit of fun with him while we can.''
Between The Lines, who won the third heat, and Cream It Cullen, third in the second heat, were given runs simply because the trials were on, Cox said.
Ryal Bush trainer Nathan Williamson was pleased to qualify That Cat, courtesy of a quick last 800m in a two-horse qualifying trial.
The Lis Mara gelding led home Tuapeka Art, which qualified for Lawrence trainer Dan Cummings.
That Cat was a recent purchase for Williamson's leading owner, Art Shirley, and looks progressive, although Williamson is prepared to be patient with him.
''He's going to need a bit more time, but we thought we'd qualify him before we tip him out. He'll probably go to the paddock.''
Smokin Bird franked her fine qualifying effort at Oamaru earlier this month with an impressive win over five rivals in the c0 mobile pace.
Driver Williamson pushed the filly forward with 700m to go to tackle leader Be Me before pulling away to win by five lengths in 2.51.4. The last 800m was run in 58.1sec.
Her trainer, Kevin Court, hoped to line her up at Forbury Park in a 2200m pace.
