Windswept winners

Members of Leith Harrier & Athletic Club gather for the Balclutha Half Marathon as well as 10km and 5km races on Saturday.

Club president Chris Sole said many battled in gale force wind.

An undulating course, road edge camber and rising temperature and heat also affected performances. Half marathon men's champion was Craig Iversen (1hr, 20min, 28sec), women's champion was Mel Aitken (1hr, 24min, 27sec).

In the 10km run Olivia Sutherland was the women's winner (44min 7sec) and McKay Watson the men’s winner (38min 40sec). Women’s winner in the 10km walk went to Janice Hughes (1hr, 22min, 48sec) and men’s was Peter Gilder (1hr, 23min, 6sec).

Men’s winner in the 5km run was Josh Shore (21min 22sec) and women’s was Robyn O’Neill (35min, 3sec). Women’s 5km walk winner was Kirsty Stanley (49min 53sec) and men’s was Dennis Dunn (1hr, 11min, 38sec).
