Mr A. M. Taylor (left), the manager of the Dunedin branch of Pacific Metal Industries, and Mr H. Hazlett, a gas-cutter with the company, set to work on one of the old DG locomotives destined to be scrapped in February 1984.
About 30 of the original fleet of 40 DGs have been scrapped in Dunedin.
