A man is being sought by police after he was spotted standing by a stolen car shortly before it went up in flames.
The man was described as wearing black clothing and standing beside the Holden Monterey four-wheel-drive on Stirrat St, Invercargill, early on Boxing Day morning.
The vehicle was discovered burnt out on the same street around 5am.
It had earlier been stolen from an address in Kew Rd, police said.
"Police are interested in any information in relation to this incident or of any suspicious behaviour in the area that may relate to this," Detective Mason Middlemass said.
