Same venue, different dates.

That is the word from organisers of the annual Alexandra charity book sale, which has had its schedule changed due to a "new chapter" for one couple.

The Rotary Club of Alexandra event is usually held every year from December 26-31 but this year the venue was unavailable for part of that time because of a wedding function being held there.

This summer's 31st annual sale will therefore be held from January 1-4, at the same venue, the Alexandra Community Centre.

Co-organiser Barry Hambleton said the event had been held on the same December dates for the past 30 years at the community centre, so it would be "a nice trial" to hold it at the beginning of January instead.

The book sale raises about $20,000 a year.

The proceeds are given to mostly local causes.
