Alexandra resident Mary Tritt helps create the Alexandra Musical Society’s "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat" Alexandra Blossom Festival float.

The float is one of seven competitive floats with princesses which will take part in next week’s festival parade, which will also feature florries, non-competitive floats, pipe bands, the truck parade and a variety of walking groups, including steampunk groups from Dunedin and Oamaru.

The festival programme begins on Monday with the beginning of the self-guided "Blossom Drive" around the Alexandra district, and will also feature the crowning of the Senior Blossom Queen on Tuesday, mardi gras and Round the Clock Race on Friday, the opening of the musical society’s production on Saturday, and various arts and craft exhibitions.
