Firefighters have been sent home after finding out a large blaze near Beaumont this evening was a controlled burn.
Several fire crews were called to the fire near Chinaman Flat Rd about 5km south of Beaumont.
However, Fire and Emergency New Zealand communications shift supervisor said it was later found to have been a controlled burn and it was left in the hands of the owner.
