Motorists have been urged to plan ahead for 10 weeks of delays as resilience work is done on the slopes and benches of the Cromwell Gorge along State Highway 8 near Clyde.

Work is due to start on Monday and will run from 8am to 5pm each day until May 16.

An NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi spokesperson said in a social media post traffic would be stopped in both directions intermittently as required.

Motorists could expect delays of up to 15 minutes.

The work would depend on various factors and might be amended or rescheduled, the spokesperson said.
