New Maniototo Hospital opens

The newly completed Maniototo Hospital has been officially opened by Health Minister David Clark in Ranfurly today.

Dr Clark opened the multimillion-dollar Ranfurly medical facility which cost about $7m to build, this included funding from the community and a $1m grant from the Government.

Over 100 residents turned out for the opening and Central Otago Mayor Tim Cadogan was also present.

Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern, who travelled to Ranfurly last April for the funding announcement, was also on the invitation list but was unable to commit to an appearance.

The $7million development includes 29 new beds and a transformation of existing rest-home facilities into a medical centre and community services facility.
