To encourage Roxburgh ratepayers to connect to the new water pipeline, their community board has agreed to subsidise the cost and offered a plan for payments to be spread over 12 or 24 months.
That subsidy will be half of the $1748 road crossing fee as the pipeline runs down one side of the road and people on the other side would need pipes to be connected under the road.
The full cost of connection, minus crossing fee, will be $1725 plus the cost of a water tank.
