Hereford bull Limehills Nevis 240504 fetched the top price of $50,000 at the 47th annual Limehills Polled Hereford Stud sale in Millers Flat on Tuesday.
The buyers were Murray and Fiona Curtis, of Riverlee Herefords and Angus stud in Rangiwahia in the North Island.
Mrs Curtis said there was a lot to like about the bull.
“He’s got the cosmetics right and he’s got a lot of meat, thickness and bone and he walks well.”
At the sale 51 of the 53 bulls offered sold for an average price of $14,390.
Limehills Polled Hereford owner Gray Pannett said the sale result was “amazing”.
Many of the more than 120 people at the sale were clients, who regularly return to buy his bulls, Mr Pannett said.
“It’s been 47 years and there are people there who are third generation clients.”
