Police search and rescue teams and volunteer firefighters searching for a missing child near Middlemarch have found the boy safe and well this afternoon.
The 7-year-old boy wandered away from his Sutton home about 2pm and a search began after police were alerted about 4pm, Acting Senior Sergeant James Ure, of Dunedin, said.
The boy was found "safe and well'' near his home about 5.20pm, Acting Snr Sgt Ure said.
Police from Dunedin and Middlemarch, including search and rescue staff, and volunteer firefighters from Middlemarch took part in the search
