A third alleged assault in the Harbour St area early on Sunday has been reported to police.
Police yesterday issued an appeal for information about two serious assaults in Oamaru's Victorian Precinct early on Sunday.
A 26-year-old Auckland woman and a 38-year-old Oamaru man were knocked unconscious and sustained serious facial injuries in two separate incidents, in the space of about two hours.
Both were admitted to Oamaru Hospital.
Sergeant Tony Woodbridge, of Oamaru, said people had come forward yesterday with information about the assaults.
That included a report of a possible third assault, where someone was allegedly bottled in the same area.
''We've heard that there was another assault and we're trying to locate the victim,'' he said.
Sgt Woodbridge thanked those who had come forward with information and he urged anyone else who witnessed the incidents or could identify anyone involved to contact police.
Anyone with information can contact the Oamaru Police Station on (03) 433-1400.
Information can also be provided anonymously to the Crimestoppers organisation on 0800 555-111.
