Queenstown police are looking for witnesses to "wanton damage" done in the Fernhill area in recent days, part of a spate of wilful damage in the resort.
Sergeant Kate Pirovano said between Friday and Sunday real-estate signs were ripped out in the area, along with 50kmh signs, and letter boxes were also damaged.
"We're not sure if it was visitors or locals ... but if anyone knows about it, let us know."
Also reported to police on Monday night was damage to the public toilets near the One Mile Car Park, at the bottom of Fernhill Rd.
Sgt Pirovano said it appeared rocks had been dropped into the toilet bowls, breaking them.
"This is why places don't have them [public toilets], because idiots like this get rocks and smash them.
"Nothing's sacred any more, not even a toilet."
At 8pm last Wednesday, the ArtBay Gallery on Beach St was also targeted by vandals.
Two males and a female were seen walking past the gallery before the shop owner heard "a smash" and found a window in the shop had been broken.
One of the males was wearing a "red T-shirt" and CCTV footage was being checked, Sgt Pirovano said.
Anyone with information about any of the incidents is asked to contact the Queenstown police on (03) 441-1600.
