Case of measles confirmed in Queenstown

A measles case in Queenstown has been confirmed, in addition to one identified earlier in Dunedin.

Nationally, the number of known measles cases was 30, but 22 were no longer infectious, Health New Zealand (HNZ) said yesterday.

The Queenstown case was linked to a known exposure.

Two Bluebridge ferry sailings from last Sunday were among new locations of interest that had been identified.

The Dunedin Hospital emergency department was on the locations list from an exposure on Tuesday between 1pm and 2.30pm.

People who may have been in close contact with the Dunedin case should monitor for measles symptoms until December 23, HNZ said.

Anyone who developed symptoms, including runny nose, fever, cough, sore red eyes and a rash starting at the face, could contact Healthline on 0800 611 116, or their usual healthcare provider. — Allied Media
