Snow expected to fall to 'low levels'

MetService is warning of a heavy dumping of snow across parts of Otago and Southland on Monday and Tuesday.

This Sunday, a front is expected to move east on to the west of the South Island.

A MetService spokesman said the front would be followed by a cold air mass with embedded troughs bringing frequent showers to southern and western areas.

Snow was expected to low levels in the far south.

On Monday and Tuesday next week, there was a moderate confidence of warning amounts of snow in Fiordland, Southland and parts of Otago, he said.
