The event saw a fantastic outpouring of generosity from the community, resulting in a mountain of food donations, all of which went directly to FamilyWorks — an organisation that provides essential food parcels to people and families experiencing hardship, including many in Pleasant Point.
The idea behind Toot for Tucker is simple — collect food and personal hygiene items for those in need while bringing a bit of fun and community spirit to the streets.
As the name suggests, the convoy of St John, Fenz and Lions’ vehicles will roll through town tooting their horns and sounding sirens as they collect donations from residents.
This year’s Toot for Tucker will take place on Thursday, December 11, at 6pm.
To get involved, place non-perishable food items or personal hygiene products in a bag or box by your letterbox in view from the street before 6pm.
Then, keep an ear out for the toots and sirens and the collection crew will do the rest!
The donations will again be given to FamilyWorks, who continue to play an important role in supporting families facing tough times.
With the cost of living still high and many people finding it harder to make ends meet, every can, box, or packet truly makes a difference.
The organisers hope this year’s event will be even bigger and better than the last, helping to fill more cupboards and bring a little extra kindness to local households this Christmas.
