Jennie Hasler-Jacobs, from Make`n' Waves, recently won one section and finished second in another at the Otago hairdressing competitions and won the overall title at last weekend's Timaru competitions.
Those wins and a series of solid performances this year guaranteed her a spot as the first Balclutha hairdresser to compete at the National Oceanic Supreme championships in Auckland in October.
Her appearance there will see her mingling with the best hairdressers from New Zealand, Australia and the Pacific rim - an experience she hoped would improve her own hairdressing knowledge and lift her standards even higher.
"Competing at this level is going to be nerve-racking and terribly exciting and I really can't wait to take my skills up north and compare them to others at this high level."
Mrs Hasler-Jacobs said she had received great support from her employer and the four models she had used so far this year.
Her newest model, Abby Keenan, of Paretai, would travel with her to Auckland in October, and the pair would meet regularly in the weeks leading up to the championships.
