Clutha councillors will begin making decisions next week on several proposals for Balclutha as part of the council's community plan consultation.

In a statement, the council said priority projects were identified by council staff and councillors would now decide what projects should go ahead, if any.

Some projects identified by the council included rejuvenating the Balclutha War Memorial Hall and investigating the possibility of a ''visitor hub'', improving the town's walking and cycling pathways and improving the appearance of the Balclutha bridge.

There were also proposals to revitalise parks and reserves, such as Naish Park and the Balclutha Bridge Playground, and enhance the area surrounding the Centennial Pool.

The public was given the opportunity to provide feedback to the council about the proposals earlier in the year as part of an ''Our Place'' consultation period.

Council chief executive Steve Hill said the community plans were a way of implementing the council's goal to promote living and working in the district.

''It's important to know the success of these projects will depend on the council and the community working together.''

Once councillors provided direction on the proposed projects, then staff would complete the Balclutha community plan for publication and keep the community informed about the latest developments.

Clutha Mayor Bryan Cadogan said it had been a ''tonic'' to see the hundreds of comments that came back to assist the council with the community plan process.

''You may see projects that have no impact on rates start very soon,'' he said.

Councillors will attend the standing committee meeting tomorrow to discuss the proposals.

At the same meeting, councillors will also adopt the Balclutha Reserve management plan, which was consulted on at the same time as the community plan.

Consultation was recently closed on the ''Our Place'' Milton community plans.

Over 600 items of feedback were received on the Milton proposals.

Staff will collate the feedback and identify priority projects and plans for Milton.
