Mrs Finlayson was nominated for helping establish and operate the non-profit Kidzway Early Learning Centre in Tapanui, from fundraising in 2002 to the present day.
She said she was humbled to be nominated, as Kidzway had been a team effort.
"Many volunteers can achieve big things for their community through small actions, when there’s a shared vision like Kidzway. I’ve learnt a lot along the way, and made lifelong friends."
She said her husband was a keen hunter, meaning roasts were usually venison or duck.
"It’ll be nice to have a change, and we’ll share the lamb with as many as we can. Thanks so much to Silver Fern Farms."
