Funding to growth groups

Contracts worth nearly $300,000 in the first year have been signed with three key groups charged with boosting economic growth in Clutha.

The Clutha District Council has signed deals with the Enterprise Clutha Trust, the trust's Making A Difference youth programme, the Clutha Agricultural Development Board and has signed a rental agreement for Development House, which houses those and other community schemes.

The Enterprise Clutha Trust has secured the biggest portion, securing $157,900 for the 2009-10 year.

With inflation adjustment, that will be $170,847 in the 2012-13 year.

The trust has also signed a $40,000 deal to provide its Making A Difference programme in the coming financial year.

That rises to $43,280 in 2012-13.

Another deal settled involves paying the agricultural development board $60,300 in the next financial year - an arrangement which rises to $65,244 after three years.

The other contract is a rental agreement with the owners of the Development House property in central Balclutha.

The council will pay $33,000 in rent over the next 12 months.

That gradually lifts to $35,700 in 2012-13.
