
The pair were nominated at the same time the group celebrated 20 years — having volunteered since it first started.
"We tried to estimate how many children and families we’ve seen come through over the years but the waves of children and families joining and growing and a second generation make it quite difficult to count," Mrs Hunter said.
"But that’s what you like about it," Mrs Harrex added.
"Seeing so many bonds and networks in the community that start right here with new mums and little ones meeting and chatting with lots of fun and smiles."
The ladies thanked all the volunteers, supporters and attendees who made mainly music — and Silver Fern Farms for the big, fresh, shareable lamb leg roast.
