Clutha community groups have only a few more days to ensure they are part of the district's biggest celebration of volunteers.
Nominations for the 2008 TrustPower Clutha Community Awards close at 5pm on May 23. The awards recognise and reward voluntary and community groups.
TrustPower community relations co-ordinator Rebecca James said many groups did not do their work to get recognition, so it was up to every Clutha resident to "do their bit" and nominate groups for the awards.
"People don't volunteer to get recognition and often, they are too humble to put themselves forward for the acknowledgement they really deserve."
The awards were a chance to make a difference in the community and give something back to those volunteers who dedicate so much to making their community a better place to live, Ms James said.
The awards cover five categories - heritage and environment, health and wellbeing, arts and culture, sport and leisure and educational/child-youth development.
The category winners get $500 and runners-up $250.
The overall winner receives $1500 and the chance to attend the national finals in Palmerston North in March 2009.
Last year's Clutha winners was Project Clutha.
Nomination forms are available at the Clutha District Council or by calling TrustPower on 0800 87 1111.
