Major players in the New Zealand country music industry are expected to converge on Gore next week to see what talent is on stage at the MLT Songwriting Awards.
Organisers said the event was regarded as a significant platform at which artists could have their songwriting and musical talents recognised and often taken to the next level by music industry leaders who were seeking to sign up talented new artists.
Artists from throughout Otago and Southland and further afield will take to the stage at the event on May 28.
The show will be one of several big events in Gore over the next fortnight as the town prepares to host the 37th annual New Zealand Gold Guitar Awards.
MLT Songwriting Trust chairman Bernie McKone, of Gore, said it was "momentous" for Gore to be staging the awards.
"Major players within the industry will descend on Gore. This is a must-attend event for anyone who loves listening and enjoying great music."
Judging to find the top 10 happened six weeks ago.
The finalists on the night include Tami Nelson, who was born and raised in Canada, former Gore resident Andrea Cruickshank and Central Otago's Libby Hamilton.
Mr McKone urged anyone wanting to attend to get tickets now.
They cost $30 and are available at selected Gore businesses.
"It is imperative that anyone wanting to attend get their tickets early as, historically, the show is usually a sellout," he said.
