Invercargill police continue to seek information about a man who approached a 12-year-old last week.
Detective Sergeant Marc McCloy said the man assaulted the girl on February 4, near a park in Iona St as she was walking to school, between 8am and 8.30am.
''The young girl is understandably traumatised and we are working hard to support her and her family during this very difficult time,'' Det Sgt McCloy said.
Police had increased patrols in the area and were urging anyone who may have information or may have been in the area over the past few weeks to get in touch with police.
The man was described as wearing dark clothing, dark wraparound sunglasses and dark head gear.
