A Southland not-for-profit group is aiming to make life in lockdown a little easier for disabled community members.

It can be as simple as a shoe horn or facemask but the team at Disabilities Resource Centre Southland know how much the items help.

Manager Linda Green said the group first made deliveries during the prevous Level 4 lockdown, and had been doing daily drops this time around.

Some mornings, the phone had not stopped ringing.

“When people need disability products ... last time I had a gentleman desperate to go for a walk but needed a walker,” she said.

Lockdown could be hard on people, particularly those who lived alone. Ms Green said it was about everyone working together to have the best outcome.

The centre operated a contactless delivery system and could also provide relevant information.
