An area of West Plains Rd was blocked off for a time and reopened at 12.27pm.

A nearby resident said she heard a loud bang, but did not head out to see what caused it.

‘‘Next thing I know there were all these fire trucks and police.’’

She said it had been a long time since there was an accident at that train crossing.
