An Invercargill researcher who lost his work is stoked after having a bit of luck recovering some of it.

On Sunday night, University of Otago fourth-year medical student Stephen Potter’s car was broken into in George St in Invercargill.

The thieves, who also took alcohol, took a voice recorder and some surveys that were a part of Mr Potter’s research.

Mr Potter said yesterday the surveys were found in a green waste wheelie bin on Monday morning.

The owner contacted the university after finding the surveys in their green waste bin.

Although the voice recorder had still not been found, Mr Potter was hopeful it would show up soon.

A neighbour had got in touch with him with some CCTV footage of two people stealing from cars in the street.
