The exhibition is being held at the Waikawa Hall in the Catlins and opens on Saturday morning to the public.
Southern District Arts Trust president Janice Broad said people would be surprised by the quality of work.
"[There is] such a variety that there is something there for everyone."
The exhibition featured 280 exhibits, she said.
"It’s an opportunity for local people to have a platform and display their art.
"It gives everyone a creative experience."
Two guest artists will be exhibiting — Dunedin-based mosaic artist Sharon Pine and Kaikōura-based artist Jane Riley.
Most of Pine’s early work was mainly with vintage china, she said.
Now she used stained glass, slate and smalti.
The exhibition runs from Saturday to March 3.
