A last-second basket gave the Andy Bay Falcons a dramatic win in Dunedin club basketball on Saturday.

Alex Yarnall scored off an offensive rebound to give the Falcons a 72-71 victory over the City Rise Bombers.

The Bombers had led 71-63 with two minutes to play, but succumbed to the Falcons' ball pressure, leading to several key turnovers.

Hamish Robertson hit a three-pointer to cut the deficit to five, before scoring from mid-range and at the hoop, to make the gap one.

He had a big fourth quarter, scoring 13 of his 21 points during that period and showing himself to be a multidimensional scoring threat.

Both teams started slowly, struggling to finish, despite getting quality looks at the hoop.

The Bombers led 12-10 at the first break, before the Falcons hit back with a strong second quarter.

Its range of threats proved key, as seven different players scored, and it took a 33-26 lead to halftime.

That lead was extended to double-digits early in the third, but the Bombers fought back.

Matt Bardsley and Anton Hughes both scored twice at the hoop, while Olly Smith, in his first game back from concussion, was classy from mid-range.

They helped spur a mini-run to end the quarter, closing the score to 51-44.

That gap closed completely early in the fourth.

Bardsley and Hughes continued to threaten, while Henrie Njob-Anti scored a quick seven points on the way to the Bombers opening up an eight-point gap.

The Falcons began applying more pressure and created the turnovers they needed to win the game.

Alongside Robertson's 21, Tom Davison had 17 points for the Falcons, while Matt Bazsika finished with 11.

For the Bombers, Smith had 17, Njob-Anti had two spurts of seven to finish with 14, and Bardsley and Hughes added 11 each.

The win moves the Falcons into third place, with three wins from six games.

The Bombers have a game in hand and could draw by beating the unbeaten Mid City Magic on Thursday night.

In other games, the Magic thrashed Varsity 112-60 and the St Kilda Saints beat the Mid City Magic Lions 90-56.
