A new season dawns

Oklahoma City Thunder guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander takes on Houston Rockets centre Steven Adams during the opening game of the NBA season in Oklahoma City yesterday.

Adams, the popular New Zealander in his 12th NBA season after spending his first seven with the Thunder, finished with four points, 13 rebounds and three assists for the Rockets, but Gilgeous-Alexander had 35 points to lead the Thunder to a 125-124 win in double overtime.

Thunder players received their traditional rings before the game after charging to victory in the NBA finals last season.
