The Roosters will announce the former All Black as a marquee signing at a press conference in Sydney on Tuesday morning, the Sydney Morning Herald reports.
The paper reports that Williams will sign a one year deal with the Sydney club, which finished 13th last season.
Williams announced his return to the NRL at a press conference in July signalling his departure from New Zealand rugby. He has never revealed which team he will sign with, but it's largely been speculated as the Roosters.
Williams played five seasons for Sydney rival the Bulldogs between 2004 and 2008 before leaving in controversial circumstances, quitting the team for French rugby side Toulon one year into a five-year contract.
In 2010, Williams signed with the NZRU in a bid to play for the All Blacks at the following year's Rugby World Cup. The second five-eighth made his ITM Cup debut for Canterbury later that year and was selected on the All Blacks end of season tour, becoming only the second person to represent New Zealand in union after first doing so in league.
It won't take long before he's back playing on New Zealand soil.
The Herald on Sunday reported in the weekend that the Roosters will likely visit the Warriors in week two of next season playing at Eden Park - the same ground where Williams became a Rugby World Cup champion last October.
