To have one runner in the 2yr-old Breeders Crown colts and geldings final in Victoria is one thing.
To have two is pretty special.
But to have those two horses run the quinella? That is wildest dreams stuff.
For Mosgiel couple Phil and Margaret Creighton the dream became a reality on Sunday night when the magnificent Follow The Stars surged to the lead and was never headed, winning the $A297,000 ($NZ331,000) final by almost 5m for driver Mark Purdon.
Right in behind was Kept Under Wraps - another runner for the All Stars training team of Purdon and Natalie Rasmussen, driven by Greg Sugars.
The Creightons have 25% shares in both horses, with Christchurch couple Phil and Glenys Kennard, Neil Pilcher, of Christchurch, and Gavin Douglas, of Ashburton, all holding shares in both horses.
The four sets of owners have now won 13 group 1 races as an ownership group, Phil Creighton said shortly after landing back in New Zealand yesterday.
''We were very thrilled,'' he said.
''The quinella was something to hope for, and to pull off is just great.''
Creighton believed the winning of the race came from Purdon's double bluff at the start of the race when he decided to push forward from barrier 7, despite suggestions he might go back.
''Mark had made the statement that he wouldn't go to the front, but that's where he won it in that first 300m or 400m,'' he said.
Follow The Stars quickly Took over the lead from Kept Under Wraps, who appeared to be the only possible danger on the turn, after sitting in the trail from the 2000m mark.
''After the race, [Purdon] said the one he was worried about was Kept Under Wraps.''
Back in third, a brave My Field Marshal wrapped up a trifecta with plenty of Otago connections.
The son of Art Major is out of the classy race mare Foreal, and is raced by her breeders, Syd and Shona Brown, of Mosgiel.
Creighton said Follow The Stars would be back in New Zealand in a week for a spell, while Kept Under Wraps might remain in Australia in the short term to avoid too many clashes with Follow The Stars.
The Creightons - along with the Kennards, Pilcher and Douglas - won the 3yr-old division of the race in 2012 with Fly Like An Eagle.
''We're pretty tickled pink,'' Creighton said.
