Golding (22) gets the drive tonight behind the 5yr-old son of Elsu after steering Ballindooley to a win for trainers Graeme Anderson and Amber Hoffman last week.
Eddie Boy is resuming at Forbury Park after a wind operation following his third there on March 7, and Golding has a friendship to thank for some regular drives with the Westwood Beach-based training partnership.
''I had a drive for them down in Southland around Christmas time, and I've got to know Amber Hoffman and [her partner] Jonny Cox pretty well,'' he said.
Eddie Boy has promised plenty in his nine-start career, particularly after a dominant 9 length win at Oamaru in August.
''I haven't driven it yet, but a few people have said it's a pretty nice horse,'' Golding said.
While Eddie Boy has drawn out wide in a 2700m 1-win stand event, Golding still gives him the brightest hope of his four drives.
As for One Last Breath (race 5), Golding might be holding his own as the field paces into the stables bend, after she made a mess of it on May 31, galloping out of contention. Golding said her pacing action was not flash on the same bend on May 24 either, but her hopples had been brought in by an inch or two for tonight's assignment.
''I was surprised she made it around in one piece on the first time, and she got it all wrong last time, so hopefully she would have seen it enough times now [to pace cleanly].''
Golding said Hot Toddy (race 11) might need the race to go her way to pick up a win, although it is not a strong field, while he did not know too much about The Fickle Finger (race 11), who is a recent addition to the Anderson/Hoffman team from Tony Stratford's Invercargill stable.
Golding (22) is a latecomer to harness racing, although his sister Maree is married to horseman Sam Smolenski. He began his career in horses with Mark Jones before moving to Peter and Leonne Jones' training operation. He spent time in New South Wales last year before working for Ken Barron for the past eight months.
Golding was a handy cricketer before putting the bat and pads away to concentrate on harness racing, gaining national attention when he scored 358 for the St Bede's College 3rd XI on a March afternoon in 2007, including 39 sixes and 21 fours.
Better To Be Bad returns to racing following her sixth in the 5yr-old Diamond division of the Harness Jewels at Ashburton on June 2. She meets River Black, who was third behind Ballindooley last week, and Bedtime, who is stepping up from the mares-only Golden Girls series for this 3 to 7-win assignment.
