Jenny Becker, has bred, shown and raced Siberian Huskies for 17 years.

Now she has cut back on the huskies and is focusing her attention on another of her passions, breeding standardbreds.

Becker (36) and her husband, Stuart, farm at Te Horo, 6km from Otaki.

Becker took a shine to standardbreds when she helped Cambridge horseman Mike Berger while she was at primary school.

She began breeding trotters 11 years ago when she purchased Donna Whiz from Blenheim horseman Don Boese.

The Becker fillies all have the prefix Tehoro.

Donna Whiz (Gee Whiz-National Flirt), the first foal of her dam, won two races, at the Kapiti Coast and Waterlea, when trained and driven by Boese.

The second foal from Donna Whiz, Becker (by Armbro Invasion), won two races from the Mark Purdon stable.

Donna Whiz has also left the winners The Tin Man, Tehoro Diva and Tehoro Grace.

Becker bought the unraced National Flirt at a sale and began breeding from her in 2000.

The first foal Becker bred from her was Mon Beau Somolli (by Beautiful Somolli).

Mon Bon Somolli won first up for Colin and Julie De Filippi and twice at Forbury Park from the Phil Williamson stable.

National Flirt has also left the winners Tehoro Flirt (two) and Tehoro Mistletoe (one).

The latest winner from the Te Horo line is Tehoro Grace.

The Earl 3yr-old won at her third start at Washdyke last Sunday.

Tehoro Grace is the fifth individual winner bred by Becker and trained by Robbie Holmes at Leithfield Beach.

Becker began a fruitful association with Holmes when she approached Amberley trainer Jane Knox and asked if she knew someone who would train the trotters she was breeding.

Knox, who had been assisted for several years by Holmes, recommended him.

The first winner Holmes prepared for Becker was Tehoro Flirt, who won at Westport in December 2006 beating Stig.

The Tin Man is the only horse Becker has been on course to see win, at Waterlea in June 2008.

The Tin Man has been the best performer for Becker.

The Continentalman-Donna Whiz 6yr-old has recorded six wins and 10 placings for $54,818 in stakes.

Three of The Tin Man's wins have been at Blenheim.

Becker has leased The Tin Man to the Night And Day syndicate.

Jenny is breeding from five mares who are quartered at Wai Eyre Farm, Weedons.

Three of the Becker trotters will be in action this week.

The Tin Man races at Addington tomorrow night.

Tehoro Bliss and Tehoro Diva race at Oamaru on Sunday.
